Can you use your ship card in the casino?

From what I read recently you can gift yourself $1000 via NCL which would be refundable onboard credit. That way you would get at least $1000 towards your. Credit card sign up bonus.  But it’s my understanding when you take that money from your account and put it in the slot machine they charge 3% which doesn’t make sense to me but that’s what I read.

Casino charge is 3%.  If you are talking about the NCL card, it's a NCL purchase which nets 3x points, so if you were to take your points as a credit, it's a wash. If you charged $1000 your onboard account would be charged $1030, you would meet the $1000 purchase requirement and have $30 in statement credit, plus whatever sign-on bonus. Or an additional 3000 points toward a future upgrade.

There is a 3% fee for charging your room account for casino play. The fee is waived for upper tier casino players.
