We sailed MG with about 5700 on board. Really the only problem is that the seating for the Grand Central space on MG is terrible for being able to see everything going on. Unless the entire show is on the stage, which most of them are not they have stage extensions, you won't be able to see everything from the seats. They tried to replicate Studio 270 or whatever it's called on Royal Caribbean, but it's not a great setup in terms of being able to view as an audience. You need to get there at least 2 hours early for the first show and then maybe 30 minutes before the last show to hover around people to get their seats when they stand up. But as far as that many people on board, it was a non-issue. The ship really spreads out everyone nicely.

Not really. All cruise lines sell illusions. Some fall for it, some don't. The water and ports are still the same - except the size of the ships eliminate many tender ports - a game changer. I'd say the biggest game changer provided by Celebration are power ports in the cabin. Some need a walled city environment to enjoy a vacation and that is one of the biggest illusions of all. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssssss Since you've only sailed on four ships out of your 15 cruises that were over 100 K tons, experiencing a ship that is 180 K tons could seem a little overwhelming since the Dream was the largest you've been on. But choices are a good thing and cruisers that like to sail on the older ships from the secondary ports are vital to the bottom line. So, as a stockholder, I thank you. But at the same time I have to disagree about the Celebration being too big.

If you didn't need your cell phone to check in for dinner, it would be locked in the safe as it is for all of our cruises. Unless we're sailing on Princess or Celebrity which includes unlimited wifi. But we would never pay for wifi a la carte, it's not a necessity.

With traditional dining, no need to check in at all, and your table is always ready. My upcoming Celebrity cruise doesn't include unlimited WiFi, but then, I only had to pay port taxes and fees. The goodies bundle is optional on Princess, so you are paying something.

Have not done traditional dining in years, so that's a moot point. The bundling with the Princess plus used to be 40 a day, recently increased to 50 a day. After factoring out gratuities, 35.50 covers wifi and drinks package. Even if the wifi is not used, 35.50 for the drink package is about half of what you pay for Cheers after gratuities. Congrats on your "free" Celebrity cruise.

And which ship is it? There's a difference between the M Class, S Class, and Edge Class.

The Beyond, their newest, would have been my top choice, followed by the first two in the Edge Class, the Apex and the Edge. Have sailed four different classes on them over the past 27 years on 7 different ships. Comparable to Princess.

Only priorities we had, balcony, eastern Caribbean and in January....found it and booked...then I learned it was on Celebration. We don't really care about ship size/class, we make fun of it no matter what.

After 40 cruises in the Caribbean we're the exact opposite. Primarily cruise on the newest ships that various lines offer or a class that we have not sailed on yet such as RCI's Quantum, which we'll do in April. Choosing based on ports will be a deciding factor once we hit areas we have not cruised yet, such as everything across the pond.
