Six/ Broadway Shows Question

Morning all!  My daughter loves the Six, she saw it twice on our Breakaway sailing this past summer. The Broadway touring company is coming to our local theater this Spring. How different are the Broadway shows on the ships vs. actually in the theater?  Are they basically the same?  Thanks.

They are very similar. SIX does not have too much staging that is often different for fixed theaters, versus cruise ship theaters where it would have to be torn down nightly, versus a traveling show which has to be transportable and torn down after a month's run. If you daughter loved the show, splash some cash and take her to your local theater.

We saw SIX on the Breakaway in August and loved the show. We sat in the front orchestra. After the cruise, we looked up to see what those seats would have cost on Broadway ($300-$400 depending on night). We were impressed with the vocalists, all strong singers (a lot of time, on a cruise ship production, you will have a few strong and a bunch of weak singer).

It depends on the normal run time of the show if it will be different on the ship.  The cruise lines like to keep their shows to between 60-90 minutes so they will condense some of the longer shows.  Six is normally has a 80 minute run time so it could be the full show.

We saw SIX twice on the Breakaway, where we fell in love with it, and subsequently saw the American touring company. It’s the same show, except that the Queens on the Breakaway, at least when we were aboard a year ago, were all Brits and thus had British accents.  On Broadway and in the touring company, the Queens are speaking and singing in American English.  It’s still a great and fun show; take your daughter!

A month ago, we saw SIX in London. Absolutely the best production we’ve seen.

The run time on the Breakaway was the same as on Broadway.

Yeah,,, they interject some references to the Breakaway and the ship in a couple of places in the script,,, but that is expected.

The localized references happen wherever you see the show.
