Rare KarmaCruisers Posted November 21, 2022 Author #52 Share Posted November 21, 2022 Annnd we’re back on board. I have to say; props to Paradise Beach Club! The staff was awesome and kept us hydrated and fed! The WiFi was great (5Mbps out on the beach and 15Mbps up by the pool) And at $60 each for all-inclusive; that’s a good deal in my book! The entire facility was nice (bathrooms were nice and clean too) also, I have to say, the cab drivers here actually stick to the posted prices! ($15 each way from port to Paradise); so I gave them an extra $5 each way…I wished other places that had POSTED prices would do this too (I’m looking at you Nassau!) lol, we went into the first store when we came back because it said “smallest and cheapest!”..it sure was small! (Literally like a walk-in closet size) but it was by FAR not the cheapest! My wife collects shot glasses, so she has to get one from each trip we go on..freakin $10 for a shot glass! Just before we got back on board, in the duty-free area (that they force you to walk through lol) the SAME shot glass was $3! I told Kris, next time; just get the shot glass at the duty free shop! Haha I think we’re going to take a nap for a few hours (the sun really wipes you out); then head down to dinner.
Rare KarmaCruisers Posted November 21, 2022 Author #53 Share Posted November 21, 2022 Just woke up from our nap; to watch us push away from the dock..only for about 10 minutes later for the Captain to come over all-call and say we have a medical emergency and have to go back to the dock to evacuate them. Good luck to them! I also had an idea about the internet speeds..me being a network engineer (technically not my official job title as that’s Software Site Reliability Engineer); I THINK what’s happening is their using QoS to give better speeds to some sites over others (perhaps the specific sites advertised as being able to access; ie: Skype, etc) because when I type something in the search box (google search engine) it pops up almost immediately. IMHO this is a super ignorant use of QoS; dunno why you wouldn’t just have everything wide open all the time. Then again, it just may be my earlier speculation about FOMO since the pandemic. Time to get cleaned up and ready for dinner in the MDR at 7:30! 1
Rare KarmaCruisers Posted November 22, 2022 Author #54 Share Posted November 22, 2022 Welllll so the buffet was called as audible; because the Yes/No Gameshow starts at 8:30; and with a 7:30 dinner reservation, no WAY would we get there in time to get a seat. So, another buffet..Tonight is Caribbean and Mexican night; so we’ll see what they have. I wouldn’t mind having more ceviche 🙂

We just finished eating and grabbed a spot at Princess Live; in waiting for Yes/No Gameshow…15 minutes early and it’s already packed in here! also; apparently the Glory also had to make a pit stop in Cozumel for a medical emergency..
Rare KarmaCruisers Posted November 22, 2022 Author #57 Share Posted November 22, 2022 Food was Pesto and Seafood Pasta’s Fried Shrimp Jerk Chicken Stir Fry (which the veggies were great! But there was ZERO spice to the chicken)
Rare KarmaCruisers Posted November 22, 2022 Author #58 Share Posted November 22, 2022 Whew; what a long gambling session! first off; apologies to @canadarocksas i missed getting a picture of the MDR menu (it was prime rib and Coq Au Vin) Last I left y’all, we went to the Yes/No Gameshow..funny as always! The last person to go was an Elite cruiser and made Matt resort to popping the champagne and drinking it HIMSELF haha. (She went the whole three minutes) After that, Kris and I went to play Heads Up Hold’Em with a combined buy in of $1500 (this was about 9:30) Kris knocked off at about 11:30 and gave me what was left of her chips and I continued to play until 1am. Funny enough I got down to my last bet (we bet table max; $25 a spot) and got quad aces..which on another story..some SUPER drunk girl came up the hand prior and was basically trying to get in my personal space (just overly “lovey” because she was so drunk; and I THINK saw me with a good stack of green chips)..when I hit the quad aces she was LITERALLY hanging on me, saying YEAH! like, no..I’m not even even for the NIGHT, so stop touching me! (I didn’t say anything of course because I didn’t want to make a scene..more than she already was lol) So finally caught a little decent run of cards and cashed out exactly $1500! Came back to the room; and we ordered the fooooodz tonight menu is: cesars salad PBJ Grilled Cheese x2 chicken noodle soup hot dog with all the fixings and two cokes. dunno if I’ll watch a movie tonight as it’s an early morning and it’s alresdy after midnight! (Even with falling back to CST!) Looking forward to the monkey house tommorow! BTW: the drink of the night was PassionNada? It was some sort of passion fruit martini style drink..good as fuxk! (I had like three of them)

Rare KarmaCruisers Posted November 22, 2022 Author #62 Share Posted November 22, 2022 Just back to the cabin after a long day! The visit to Daniel Johnson’s Sloth Hangout was definitely worth it! we just did the “base” island tour package ($40 each) and we actually ended up with just us two in a Kia SUV being chauffeured around the island! Our driver literally took us from end-to-end (we asked him how big Roatan is and he said 40 miles long by 5 miles wide; we believe it!) He asked us if we wanted to stop anywhere along the way to buy anything or take any pictures; but we were just enjoying being chauffeured in the air conditioning, haha. Got back to the ship at 1:30, went to Alfredo’s for some lunch. Now we’re laying down for a nap until sail away (6:30pm). see y’all at dinner!

Rare KarmaCruisers Posted November 23, 2022 Author #66 Share Posted November 23, 2022 So; we got up from our nap, cleaned up and headed down to get a “snack” at the Snackateria (lol, callback to National Lampoons Vegas Vacation) just one plate each, as our primary dinner is in 2 hours.

Rare KarmaCruisers Posted November 23, 2022 Author #68 Share Posted November 23, 2022 Sitting down to Crown Grille now. On the menu is: cable car (for me) Diet Coke (for Kris) prawn cocktail grill salad x2 8oz filet x2 mashed potatoes x2 grilled mushrooms grilled asparagus on a side note; on the TV in the room, it said the casino bar was the ONLY bar with Blanton’s (for $12; which I found almost impossible to believe on a cruise ship) casino bartender had no idea what blantons was (they also didn’t have that signature bottle on the shelf) I asked the barman here at the Crown Grille and he said he thinks they’re just out (on the ship) and it’s not the “usual” Blantons, but a “lower” version…I’m skeptical because I didn’t know blantons MADE a “lower” version unde the Blanton label…

I'm personally not a fan. I much prefer Sabatinis. And I don't even eat pasta.
indexcards Posted November 23, 2022 #70 Share Posted November 23, 2022 Enjoying your posts. Thank you. I will be on same itinerary and ship in a week or so. Could you comment on the air conditioning on this ship ? Does it necessitate bringing sweaters for the public rooms (ie casino, showroom) Also can the air be controlled in cabin? Rare KarmaCruisers Posted November 23, 2022 Author #71 Share Posted November 23, 2022 Wow; I totally forgot to post the usual midnight snack last night. I didn’t get back to the room from the casino until 1am..another break even night (wish I could say break even on the trip, lol) watched Kingsmen movie (the first one). We didn’t actually go to sleep until like 2:30..but I was super hot and uncomfortable for some reason and couldn’t fall asleep..with a wake-up call at 5:30 for the Ruins Excursion..we decided just to sleep in and forget it. Woke up at 1:30pm; got cleaned up and came down here to Alfredo’s for lunch and we’re going to go ashore to take a look

It’s great, cool when it needs to be. depends on if you “run cold”, whether you should bring a sweater. the AC is adjustable in your stateroom, yes.
MissP22 Posted November 23, 2022 #73 Share Posted November 23, 2022 If you happen to stop by the buffet tomorrow, check if they're serving carved turkey. Not turkey breast, but the whole bird. Thanks

Thanks We’ll definitely be doing the buffet tommorow night, as my wife likes the (what I call it) “gospel mission” thanksgiving dinner (the plain jane American home cooked staples of basic turkey, stuffing, mashed taters and cranberry sauce) casino gave me a free Sur Mer at 5:30pm for tommorow (thanksgiving)..nice thought (after I’m down $7500, lol) but Kris HATES seafood…and I myself really don’t want a seafood meal on thanksgiving. (But I’m a slob and I don’t ever refuse a free hot meal) So after looking at just how far away we are from Belize (easily a 20 minute tender ride) we decided to skip it. came back to the room to relax until dinner Here’s my ridiculously large calzone from Alfredo’s (ie: if you’re not a certified fat guy like me, this is a meal for two)

They supposedly have a fantastic filet mignon you might be interested in.
