Avg time to disembark/immigration in NY?

We arrive in NY at 10am on Dec 22 on NCL Gem. We are b2b on the Gem for the next leg which sails at 4pm, with instructions that we must all be aboard 2 hrs before we sail… so 2pm.  Are we really going to get any useful time to go ashore? How long will it take to disembark and clear immigration as we are not US citizens?
We really wanted to visit Intrepid, as we should be docked 5-10mins walk away, but I can’t risk buying a timed ticket in case everything runs late. I assume they do walk up tickets too?

Oh, and I forgot that we need to move cabins too for the next leg 😂😂

thanks…

Since NYC is your first US port of call, it is likely that you will be required to disembark and clear customs (which should be full immigrations processing).

You could catch a cab up the street to times sq, walk around and have lunch. Just don’t want to venture too far if embarkation closes at 2 pm.

Or disembark late and just hang in the terminal until you can reboard. It is a very short turn for the ship to reprovison for another long cruise.

The Intrepid is basically a 5 minute walk.  That may be your best bet as if it's getting close to boarding time you can just leave the Intrepid and walk over to your ship.

I do believe they sell walk up tickets, we visited spur of the moment several years ago.  You should be able to see most of it in 2-3 hours.

Enjoy!

Some of our CC friends from NY are on this GEM T/A coming back home from its Euro crossing, wishing OP and all, a great & wonderful trip.

Be sure to check-in onboard with the CruiseNext/Latitude desk to make sure that they know you are on a B2B (if they don't already know ... they should) as you will receive special info & instructions about what, how, when & where - pack your luggage & how your bags will be moved to your new cabin (if you are changing stateroom, etc.)  Once arrived into NY (and, there is a very good chance that the ship will arrive much earlier than 10 am) and the ship is clear, you should be among the first group to get escorted together & cleared ... and be permitted to get back on the ship; and/or, to leave for shorex - NCL tours and DIY on your own.  New guest key cards should be issued while you on on the ship.

Intrepid is just south of the cruise terminals, literally right next door and a 5 to 10 minutes walk, outside in typical December weather for NY (check weather & dress accordingly).  Only small (daypack) packs allowed on the Intrepid for security reasons.   Book that tour for 11 or 11:30 and you should be safe, and get 2.5 plus hours to see it.  Reconfirm the all-abroad time for the 2nd segment of your cruise in NY.
