Rare jam19872016 Posted December 7, 2022 Author #126 Share Posted December 7, 2022 I ordered entirely off the Asian side. Pork belly. This was very good and I enjoyed the sauce although the jiji's sauce wins hands down. Spring rolls. Also very good but not a fan of the sauce. Kung poa chicken with hakka noodles. That chicken was so spicy I was in tears! I did ask for extra spicy and they delivered. One of my favorite dishes in a very long time. For dessert I had the chocolate c bang. Delicious.
Rare jam19872016 Posted December 7, 2022 Author #127 Share Posted December 7, 2022 The portions were small but the food was all very very good. The service and atmosphere were terrible. I don't use that word to describe service very often but this was just not even close to up to the standards I've come to expect from carnival. None of the staff had personality and honestly seemed miserable.
Rare jam19872016 Posted December 7, 2022 Author #128 Share Posted December 7, 2022 Thought I would do some catching up but M had a casino crisis AKA she is getting beat up on pretty bad. We are going to check out the club now.
Rare jam19872016 Posted December 7, 2022 Author #129 Share Posted December 7, 2022 We stayed at the club till 130 then moved back to the casino until it closed at three. Grabbed some pizza (none for me I gotta Kay off the late night munching) and finished the night with some on demand movies. Going to bed now. Tomorrow is San Juan. Good night everyone.
Cherries Jubilee Posted December 7, 2022 #130 Share Posted December 7, 2022 A lot of people dislike Chibang but we liked it so much on Mardi Gras that we went twice. The service on Mardi Gras was just obnoxiously slow and the room was crazy loud.
Rare jam19872016 Posted December 7, 2022 Author #131 Share Posted December 7, 2022 Good afternoon. I thought I was going to have to buy a charger but in the daytime I was able to get it working. Its definitely on its last leg and San Juan would be the best place to restock but I think I'm gonna try to wait till I get home. Going to grab a quick bite to eat and head into town.

Rare jam19872016 Posted December 7, 2022 Author #133 Share Posted December 7, 2022 I also had some Gelato. The salted caramel was very good. I will be on the lookout for that again. Trying to eat light because I have big dinner plans tonight.

But the service was not even close to ok. It wasn't even just how slow it was, everyone just seemed completely disinterested in being there. It was very surreal. I will definitely be back, but for the food not the warm service 😅
Rare jam19872016 Posted December 7, 2022 Author #135 Share Posted December 7, 2022 I'm getting a lot of attitude from Stewart. I don't appreciate feeling like I am an inconvenience for staying in my room all morning. Evening service is not an option he does not do that. Great, enjoy hanging out all day waiting for us to leave then. I am a very go with the flow type of person and I have never felt this dissatisfied with the service from Stuart. I may need to escalate but I don't think it is going to do anything but make everyone walk on pins and needles around me. That's not what I want. I want the quality friendly service I used to receive.

icft Posted December 7, 2022 #137 Share Posted December 7, 2022 You aren't the first to note the room stewards on Celebration trying to force morning service. We generally sail on Glory, and since we sail about once a month, except in the summer, and book rooms in the same area we often have the same steward a number of times in a row. We have received some subtle pressure to have the room done in the morning but so far they have accommodated our "after 10am" request. I'm a night owl, but the announcements at 9 don't let me sleep as late as I sleep at home so after 10 works for us. I guess 9 is the regulation time to get up on Carnival troop ships. 😁
Rare jam19872016 Posted December 7, 2022 Author #138 Share Posted December 7, 2022 The weather was gorgeous for a nice stroll around San Juan. It is usually miserablely hot but not today. We stopped in a few shops and a restaurant. I didn't eat since I ate already but I wish I had I'm pretty hungry right now. Doing teppenyaki tonight so I will be glad I resisted the urge to chow down.

It makes me think the directive is coming from carnival not a ship specific thing. We are going to speak to guest services and see if evening service is an option because this is not working. The cleaning standards are not there either, I'm not sure if he is in general not good at his job or if he is in such a rush to get done but it is not working out. When I was on the Celebration TA the room steward introduced himself the first day and said he does rooms between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. I thought he was asking for my preferred time, so I told him I’m always out of the room by 8:00, thinking that would help him. He said he doesn’t target any specific time for any staterooms, just does them when he gets to them between his stated hours. Never heard that before. Usually the steward are glad to know they have some early birds he can get to first.
mom2tcdx2 Posted December 8, 2022 #142 Share Posted December 8, 2022 Disappointed to hear about Chibang. Truly one of the restaurants I was looking forward to trying in February. Hopefully things will get better. As for the cabin service we pretty much tell the steward whenever they get to it is fine. Though I have almost always found them to leave dishes and glasses unless we put then outside. I have had a steward leave glasses for days. I think they are advised not to touch unless you set outside the door.

We've never had a steward take glasses or dishes and always just assumed they went outside. I think the idea is YOU decide when you are finished with something rather than having the steward guess if you are really finished with that half full glass or that plate with one cookie left on it.
Rare EngIceDave Posted December 8, 2022 #145 Share Posted December 8, 2022 I'm a fellow degenerate gambler with a cruise coming up on Celebration in less than 60 days What wager are you playing? .5, .10. .25 x whatever or $1+ machines?....say about $5 average bets? I'm strictly slot. Usually a $5-10 slot in land, but get crushed playing that way on ships. I haven't really found Carnival's slot tech's "sweet spot" on set up....Like high denomination with a low multiplier or low denom with middle or high multiplier? mom2tcdx2 Posted December 8, 2022 #146 Share Posted December 8, 2022 I haven't found any sweet spot with the slots on Carnival. I am sure I dont play enough, but even trying to play machines on max bet I never seem to hit anything decent. The most I ever managed was like 400 on the Magic on a single spin. I get rather discouraged and not into dropping more money in the casino. Guess I am just not a true gambler I suppose.

My guy still has his cart in the hallway but that's just because he is waiting on the sleepy heads 😆. 46 minutes ago, mom2tcdx2 said: Disappointed to hear about Chibang. My sweet spot is $2-3 a spin in slots. I don't think it makes a difference odds wise just the best for stretching my bankroll while still awarding prizes that are exciting. Ten times my bet on $.30 is great but it's only $3. Hard to get excited about that lol. Always do max bet on a machine that requires it for the top prize. Otherwise the house edge on a machine is even higher than the ridiculous amount it is set to. I also do video poker at $10 a hand but there us at least some skull involved not entirely chance.
