Nasty. Its the "deadly tarantulas" you gotta watch for...
oakridger Posted December 9, 2022 #27 Share Posted December 9, 2022 As always, @chengkp75 has provided some very interesting information for my Friday afternoon education and enjoyment! Thanks for all the other info bits about bananas from all the others! 😊
kangforpres Posted December 10, 2022 #28 Share Posted December 10, 2022 if you have a port stop in Costa Rica you can go on a banana picking excursion
Rare Mary229 Posted December 10, 2022 #29 Share Posted December 10, 2022 We grew bananas and plantains when I was a kid. Yes, they do have tarantulas but many tarantulas are not poisonous. Worse were the rats and the snakes that eat the rats. Rats love bananas. Needless to say, I am not a big fan.
rodndonna Posted December 11, 2022 #30 Share Posted December 11, 2022 Just off the NS and had good bananas everyday. They were asking if you wanted bananas when ordering Oatmeal in the MDR, while on previous cruises it seemed to just be a default Oatmeal side, so maybe there is a banana supply shortage. Rare Banditswife Posted December 11, 2022 #31 Share Posted December 11, 2022 on the NS the past 2 weeks, plenty of bananas. I thought it was banana overload, because several of the desserts/breads had bananas too. Seemed like they were trying to use them up.

I had never considered using bananas in a crisp, and the result fantastic. The bananas on the bottom of the dessert were crispy, almost like a caramel, and the bits on top were tasty.
