pamps2801 Posted December 26, 2022 #1 Share Posted December 26, 2022 The open hours in the Lido Buffet are Absolutely Ridiculous. Breakfast closes at 10am…lunch till 2:00pm…Dinner till 8:00pm. Compared to Princess which are as follows..Breakfast till 11:30am…Lunch till 3:30pm….Dinner till 10:00pm. We’re on vacation, and eating later is what we look forward to. It’s enough of a reason to cruise with Princess instead. Holland America, get it together, or else people will start cruising with other lines.
CruiserBruce Posted December 26, 2022 #2 Share Posted December 26, 2022 HAL is doing just fine. If their Lido hours don't suit you, that is fine, it is personnel preference, not some sort of requirement.
Rare kazu Posted December 26, 2022 #3 Share Posted December 26, 2022 Dining room and all specialty (except Dive In) restaurants are open until 9. New York Deli and Pizza are open until 11:30 pm and Lido re-opens at 10:30 pm for an hour. And New Deli has an express breakfast until 11 am. And Lido has select stations open from 2 - 4 pm. Not quite as limited as the OP makes it sound. I’m on the ship and haven’t gone hungry yet 😉 4
pamps2801 Posted December 26, 2022 Author #4 Share Posted December 26, 2022 Holland America is attempting to attract the younger age demographic with Music venues( B.B King … etc). The majority of the Younger age demographics, do not eat early. Other cruise lines have recognized this, and have made changes. The buffet hours being one of those changes. It isn’t a requirement, it’s simply good management decisions, which is lacking.

After coming back from shore excursions, all that is open is just that. People want a meal. We were on Koningsdam for 2 weeks at the beginning of December. Others have complained about the buffet hours in separate cruise blogs. These buffet hours are an issue that Holland America needs to address, as other cruise lines have done. Accommodate the passengers or they won’t come back. It’s as simple as that.
carmen3500 Posted December 26, 2022 #6 Share Posted December 26, 2022 I totally agree with you. It's completely insane coming back from a Shore Excursion and finding just the Burgers open. Remember, not all the HAL fleet has a New York Deli Pizza available, so it's just a burger! And mostly all the shore excursions finish after 2PM.
