esimon Posted December 30, 2022 #1 Share Posted December 30, 2022 would love some input on recent Eurodam cruises - I know it's an older ship - I don't care -- Would love input on service and food - I've sailed her before and excited to be back next month. Just curious - Thanks
DaveOKC Posted December 30, 2022 #2 Share Posted December 30, 2022 On in Dec and previously in Sept, 2022. Ship is in good condition and the crew was fantastic IMO. Food very good, but no lobster at Gala nights. Would sail her again for sure.
Riversedge Posted December 30, 2022 #3 Share Posted December 30, 2022 It’s been a year since we were onboard so of course there’s probably been more cutbacks since then (as there has been on all ships). This was a great sized ship for us. We dislike the music walk so we were much happier on board this ship without the loud music and screaming passengers who thought they sounded good singing along. We loved everything about the Eurodam. We hope to sail her again as we find this size much better for us than the newest ships. 1

They did seem to play a lot of the same songs we have heard over and over. But without the other music venues all trying to drown each other out it wasn’t so loud and not as many people all crowded into a music walk area.

wdw1972 Posted December 31, 2022 #7 Share Posted December 31, 2022 Spent 10 days on Eurodam 11/30/22 - 12/10/22. Ship, service and specialty restaurant foo was all excellent. BB Kings was also great - and never repeated a song (we did first show every night) until the last couple days when it was "guest request" nights. Both the male & female vocalist we had were very strong, and each musician was fabulous as well. I don't do the MDR - haven't bothered with it in decades. Lido breakfast was excellent. Lido lunch & dinner was surprisingly repetitive - especially lunch. Once in a while there'd be something of interest (chicken tikka masala was excellent), but mostly it was just ok. No worries for us since we ate dinner in specialty dining venues most nights (by choice). We had a family cabana in the Retreat, so lunch was gotten for us by our fabulous stewards working up there - along with drinks from the bar. I've got the Eurodam booked for an 11-night itinerary November 2023, along with a family cabana again. I wish it had a Grand Dutch Cafe onboard, but Eurodam is still a great choice! Rare 3rdGenCunarder Posted January 2, 2023 #13 Share Posted January 2, 2023 Guess I'll have to remember to pack slippers. I have a spa question. I have bought the thermal suite pass. Will I have to schedule visits, or can I just show up? On Cunard this summer, I had to make appointments because they were doing crowd control. Normally just show up. May be times where too crowded, but I never have experienced that (I do try to go off peak times though).

If I don't have a morning tour, I like to go early when it's quiet.
esimon Posted January 2, 2023 Author #16 Share Posted January 2, 2023 Well Im not paying for Orange club just to get a 'nicer' bag LOL. I have 2 of the cheap plastic ones and love them so that works. I'll ask for slippers and see what happens - I've had to ask in the past and gotten them. Again- thanks all - boarding in about 3 weeks

Again- thanks all - boarding in about 3 weeks To be fair, it is a very nice bag. 😀 I've been in CO on K'dam twice, but only got the nicer bag once. No big deal, I still have my archive of old HAL canvas bags. As for slippers, I'll pack the ones I got on Cunard this year. Perhaps seeing what another line gives (they're embroidered with the Cunard crest) will shame HAL into giving slippers again? On the subject of slippers, does anyone remember the "good night good morning" cloth that your slippers would be set out on? highscar Posted January 2, 2023 #18 Share Posted January 2, 2023 @3rdGenCunardergot the slippers on transpacific Nordham 2016. One day after spilling coffee on them I asked if they were washable. A new pair arrived. We were in a suite at the time. I have taken them on every cruise since. Slippers were also a gift on the Nordham earlier this year on a casino cruise. BTW they are washable.
JerryinBWB Posted January 2, 2023 #19 Share Posted January 2, 2023 We were on the Eurodam 21-28 December. Chele68 has positive comments above. Our comments differ. We thought the food was just so-so. The entertainment is below standard. There really are not any "big" shows with singers and dancers on the Main Stage. The dancers are good, but the overall performance (sound, choreography, stage design, etc) is well below what you will find elsewhere. We at first thought the two piano player/singers in the lounge near the casino were amateurs who had been given a chance to perform. They played all the old songs, so people loved to sing along, but their musical/singing skills were not great. The crew was fantastic; everyone friendly and helpful. The ship is old, but is in pretty good shape, although a water leak flooded our hall and kept things wet for about 3 days. We have decided to try the new Rotterdam to see if there is a better product. Otherwise, we will switch to another line. We had a good, not great time. Cruising, at least on Holland America does not appear to be what it was just a few years ago.

There has been just too many cut backs on HAL with food and entertainment, not the same line we cruised on in the 90's and the first 15 years or so of the 2000's. The ships are still beautiful with great service but everything else leaves a lot to be desired. Edited January 2, 2023 by MISTER
TGCRUISEO Posted January 3, 2023 #21 Share Posted January 3, 2023 I am a 3 Star and Eurodam was my first Holland ship back in 2012. Found a 3 day cruise on her 2/15. Using up some FCC. Excited to get back on board. Curious what they cut out on a 3 day Cruise

Just like KDam in 2019 we felt HAL couldn't handle the larger size. We've booked Eurodam for later this year and looking forward to getting back on her. The biggest difference with Pinnacle ship is the Dutch Cafe (yum), an extra restaurant (if you like Rudy's) and an extra music venue. If you want "better" service you can pay for Club Orange and eat at CO restaurant (which is recommended) instead of the larger MDR, . The food is the same, the shows are the same but service is worse (in general) and there are no loungers on the lower prominade deck 3 as it's too narrow on Pinnacle ships. Look forward to your experience onboard.
esimon Posted January 3, 2023 Author #23 Share Posted January 3, 2023 club Orange is subjective - I'm not paying more money for 'better' service- When I am on vacation and someone is waiting on me- the service has to be pretty bad for me to complain
bz Posted January 3, 2023 #24 Share Posted January 3, 2023 We will make 3 star in February on the Eurodam, but unless food and entertainment improves, we'll be looking elsewhere for our next cruise. We were disappointed on an October cruise with HAL, and it doesn't seem like there's been any change from Seattle.
