Advice on beach and taxi in Grand Turk

We'll be first timers in Grand Turk next week and have decided to forego a car/kart rental and just taxi to a nice beach that's relatively easy to get to from the port.   Our definition of "nice" would be:

  • sandy beach with some shallow water to play in
  • restrooms and a place we could buy a drink, water, Coke, etc.
  • easy access to a taxi back to the port when time is up.
  • some shade would be nice, but isn't mandatory.

I've considered Governor's beach and also English Point beach or something in that area.  Does anyone have any input on those beaches, or better recommendations?   Thanks in advance!

Everything you mentioned is right there within very short and easy walking distance from the ship.  If you don't mind walking about half a mile down the beach, you'll get to Jack's Shack.  But if you don't want to walk at all, you are right there at Margaritaville where all of what you mentioned is there for you for free to use.  (Other than the access to taxi which is unnecessary)

Enjoy!

Plus the only really accessible beaches outside the cruise port are Govenor's Beach which really doesn't have any facilities and Pillory Beach which is essentially a private resort that does take day guests if not fully booked.
