Loungers in the Shade on Half Moon Cay

On our previous visits to Half Moon Cay, lounge chairs in the shade were plentiful immediately after going down the steps and turning left.  Has that changed?  I am looking at photos and videos and there seem to be clamshells where the loungers under the trees once were.

The clamshells are lined up the back row of the beach (turn right off steps) with 2 loungers each. The open loungers fill the rows down to the beach.

We booked a clamshell and people would pull loungers up the beach next to our loungers in the shade provided by our clamshell. 🤪

The trees shade the area early but by mid day, the sun is not shaded by the trees. You may be able to move some loungers up left if you get there early. With 2 ships in port, it gets crowded quick with loungers taken.

And the clamshells booked up way before the cruise starts so pre-book if you want shade but also grab some extra loungers to put on right side (when facing water) of clam shell and you will have shade and open air if it gets hot inside shell. We walk to the 2nd lifeguard stand with space  next to clamshell (for reason above) and closer to lunch bar b que pavilion.

I always head past the villas and pirate ship. In addition to providing shade, it helps to avoid the hordes of people who tend to set up their beach gear on the stretch right after getting off the tender.

Lift up the back of the clamshell with rocks under the back corners and center support. The opening pulls the ocean breeze through the clamshell and it stays cool and fresh in there.

Our strategy also.....

And there is a hammock (no surcharge!) in the shade down the beach (used it in November) if you are early (but do not tell anyone).
