Late cancellations allowing Move ups

Retreat class is sold out on our upcoming cruise in 2 weeks. I’m just wondering if anyone has had the experience of moving up to a suite this close to departure because of someone’s cancellation. I certainly know this is possible, but I was wondering if anyone had this happen.

Only Celebrity knows why it becomes available.  Could be unallocated inventory held back for whatever reason.

We  have only once had a successful Move Up, and it was 3 days prior to the cruise 🙂

I suspect there was a much better chance at this when people were required to present a negative Covid test prior to boarding.  Not saying it couldn't happen anymore, but my point is that even if it's happened since restart, with testing now eliminated that might not be a good data point for evaluating future possibilities.

I have on a number of occasions, most recently last month.   On this cruise a PH and 2 RS opened up 3 days prior to sailing.

 

One time I got a Gratis Upgrade the night before the cruise as a RS cancelled last minute due to Covid and the ship's manifest had already been frozen.

Seems most moveups are 3 days before your cruise.  Thus with no covid testing not likely moveup to suites but to verandas the 3 day time frame is likely.
