Ochos Rios Beach with Kids

We are looking at going to a beach when we're in port--but don't want a formal excusion etc. We'd be fine with a taxi or transportation from a beach club. We love the beach club vibe of Cozumel and would like to find that here. Any rec's on places that work for this? Or at least close beaches to taxi to (that have chairs/umbrella etc)?

Good luck ,it seems like a bad port for nearby beaches without out taking a rip off taxi.

I don't agree, at least based on our experience. There is a nice beach just east of the cruise pier (walking distance). There is also a smaller beach just to the west (where Margaritaville is). It has been ~5 years since we visited, so perhaps something has changed. This won't be the "beach club/all-inclusive" vibe, but there were a la carte drinks and food options.

This is what we want to do on our upcoming cruise. With the new travel warnings from US government, I wonder if it is a safe walk?
