surfjock27 Posted January 18, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 18, 2023 Hello all, and thank you in advance for any insight. This will be our first time cruising MSC, currently Diamond on Carnival and Royal. We are booked in an Aurea Balcony, but have an offer to upgrade to a YC Interior for $300pp USD. Although we do enjoy a balcony, it is not a must have us. With that said, from any past experience, stay with Aurea or bite?
Bead Pirate Posted January 18, 2023 #2 Share Posted January 18, 2023 Did first MSC cruise (Seashore) this past October in Aurea at the invitation of casino. Not a bad comped room but really nothing special. I did play well enough that I was invited back (in the YC moving forward), next one in May on the Seaside. We are high tier on RCL, NCL, DIS and X, MSC is a different vibe, some good some just different. We only eat in specialty dining so can't speak to what the Aurea dining experience is about. I did notice (with some level of irritation) that the butlers and YC folks get what they want when they want it (think butlers commandeering elevators). I will be on the good side of that issue moving forward (as we have already booked 2 more comped YC with the casino for the summer.) I would do the upgrade and not look back...

Exceptional service throughout, and their private pool deck is amazing. There are so many great outdoor spaces within the YC and actually ship wide, so if you can do without the balcony, I'd take the upgrade. Also, your premium beverage package is included with YC (not sure about Aurea), and you also have unlimited access to the thermal spa area. Private dining room serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, and there's an outdoor grill restaurant on their pool deck serving breakfast and lunch. Just be warned that once most people try YC, it's the only way you'll ever want to cruise.
dexddd Posted January 21, 2023 #4 Share Posted January 21, 2023 Hard to say. YC is great plus you have the big lounge and pool area. Our kids had a YIN once. Room nice, plenty of space, bathroom dinky, shower coffin size. For $300 pp, I'd say yes.
JohnIreland Posted January 21, 2023 #5 Share Posted January 21, 2023 I would say YIN , but it's close and you will be happy with either.
