Tell me about new casino on Rotterdam

The new “room” is right next to the larger Casino.  It is small and there are about 25-30 machines.  It is “no smoking” and quieter then the  bigger Casino.

It's my understanding they are adding approximately 140 machines so they may not be done. I think their goal is to make the main casino entirely smoking and the other area non smoking to appease the non smokers which I believe may be a good thing for the non smokers.

In all honesty, I was impressed with the smoke eaters they had next to the smoking machines when I was on -   they seemed to do an effective job of sucking up the smoke.  It too had the separate room but few people were in it.  Most were in the bigger room with more choices.

 

I was under the impression that the room off the big casino  was for people who wanted more quiet machines as it seemed they had little volume if any.  Very quiet (and fairly empty) space.

Did they remove the "Art Gallery" for the new non-smoking room? Looking at current deck plans, I don't know what other room HAL was able to use. No great loss if it was indeed the art gallery.

The casino is only open while the ship it as sea, not while in port.

And soon there will be more days at sea.

That's happening already.  Next fall the partial Panama Canal cruises will be 12 days with less ports than the current 10 and 11 day cruises.  Also the Southern Caribbean cruises have gone from 10 days with 6 ports to 9 days with only 4 ports.

Maybe HAL is discovering its differentiating niche in the highly competitive Caribbean market - be the cruise line of choice for gamblers (they're probably one of the few lines still offering smoking in the casinos).
