Been to Cozumel many times.  Coming in on NCL Breakaway in a few weeks and one person in our party is a surfer and would like to do some surfing for an hour or 2 while in Cozumel.  Does anyone have any info that would be helpful to us?  We have a private driver to take us around, but wonder if and where we can just stop for an hour to surf.    Thank you !  Any advice is appreciated!!!

A quick google search brings up at least a couple of companies and TA reviews.

I haven’t done it but have seen it and heard about it on the east side at Punta Morena and Chen Rio. You have to be very careful of currents and undertow on the east side I have heard of several deaths occurring so I am not sure how the conditions change or how you read them.

Easy enough to do if you have a private driver and your tour would presumably include east coast.

There's a guy on the East side who teaches surfing and has a shop between Coconuts and Chen Rio.

If weather is permitting, he's probably the best person to contact.  Cozumelsurfing.com

There may be locals out at Chen Rio beyond the roped off swimming are or down at Rasta's/BobMarley's/Paradise/whatever it goes by these days, which is at the sharp left turn from the West side to the East side.  But unless your surfer is familiar with the waters, best to avid these areas.
