Disembarking in Le Havre France

We are leaving the Regal Princess cruise a day early when it docks in Le Havre, France before returning to SouthHampton.
has anyone done this before? Is there a customs/immigration office where the ship docks?  Is it a time consuming/difficult  process in Le Havre? I'd appreciate any info someone can provide prior to arrival.

I assume you have contacted the line to tell them what you intend to do. They are the ones to give you correct information if it is even possible

what is your backup plan when the ship misses that port for any reason?

A few years ago a Princess ship was unable to dock there.  What made it worse was that Princess was booking fares with the cruise ending there as well as ones with the cruise ending in Southampton.  All of the people that were supposed to end their cruise in La Havre got off in Southampton and unless they booked their air through Princess had to find their own way to La Havre.  Quite a mess.

Bill... Welcome to Cruise Critic!

Just a suggestion here, but you might want to consider asking the moderators to change your forum name to be something other than an email address.  Maybe you really prefer that...but most people like a degree of "privacy" when it comes to enabling anybody to "direct contact" you with potential spam and/or unwanted messages.

Last time we were suppose to call in there the ship had to go to an alternate cruise port because of poor weather.

We also were diverted from Le Havre due to bad weather.  Quite a few passengers were upset because they wanted to disembark and could not.  We were merely disappointed to miss Hon Fleur.  Apparently, it is not uncommon to miss this port, so I do hope you have a solid back up plan.
