Athens King George hotel

Agree with the above. Also a nice place for a pre-dinner cocktail or glass of wine to watch the sunset, if not dinner.

Also in the vicinity is a very good Greek restaurant that is both modern and traditional, well-liked by many (including myself): TZITZIKAS & MERMIGAS (which means "the ant and the grasshopper"). https://www.tzitzikasmermigas.gr/en/.   It's a couple of blocks' walk from Syntagma square. It's not your typical blue-checkered cloth place. Food is very good.

Don't miss the opportunity to sample the traditional hand-pies at Ariston Bakery, also very close by. They have been written about and featured on television -- grab a couple of different fillings and enjoy for a quick lunch or one for a substantial snack.   https://culinarybackstreets.com/cities-category/athens/2012/ariston/

(One note, if not familiar with Greek language, be sure to note the spelling of "Ariston" in the article above. The shop isn't big or attention-getting; I walked past it the first time I looked for it because the name looks a bit different in Greek....
