To the poster who wrote "I'm not physical harming my body and there is no cost." That's not exactly true - You are costing your employer money - the company you work for is paying your salary while you're cruising the net. Many companies have a zero tolerance policy for personal use of computers so you better watch out in case "big brother" is monitoring the sites you hit.

 

Having said that, I too am "addicted". Luckily I'm a stay at home mom so in between my daily chores, I find myself sneaking in by the computer. No wonder we have no clean towels and dust bunnies the size of basketballs! Dread summer when I'll have to fight for computer time with 2 teenagers!

What's this Hound thing?? Boy I wish I had a dollar for everytime I've been asked that! Okay here goes....

 

Last year I started a group cruise for some Cruise Critic friends and myself that couldn't wait for the group cruise that we were booked on for January 04. It was gonna be our pre-cruise cruise! (how's that for addiction) Anyway, we booked the Carnival Glory. Originally it was called the Glory Glory Halleljah cruise but one day when I sent an email out to the group I addressed it to all "Glory Hounds". Well the name just kind of stuck. The Hounds had such a great time and so many people wanted to join in the fun if we did it again that the Royal Hounds were born when we booked RCI's Mariner of the Seas for this coming September. We have about 175 people for this group, up from the 35 that sailed the Glory so I think we've grown a little! Well we haven't even sailed the Mariner and people were asking about a Hounds 3 cruise so after much thought and consideration, we decided on the new Caribbean Princess for the Fall of 2005. Since the guys probably didn't wanna be Princess Hounds we decided to just be Royal Hounds again. After all, a Princess is royalty right???

 

Basically, The Hounds are just a group of fun loving addicted cruisers who love cruising with other fun-loving addicted cruisers! So if that's YOU...come on aboard, it's gonna be a GREAT cruise! Everybody is welcome.

My boss and I have an understanding, my work is done, I make very few mistakes so what I do in my "slow" time is up to me. I feel I am an excellent employee having only missed one day of work in 4 years and I'm sure my boss agrees. I think the other poster is also an excellent employee and just havin' a little fun.

Well, folks count me in as well!!!

 

I started searching the web in June of 2002. After 10 years of getting kids out of college we decided it's time to treat ourselves, so started reading and with some searching found this board. Believe it or not this was the last board I found, don't know how and why, but sure glad I did.

 

It's the "Best" out there.

 

Read and posted to cc about our 2003 May cruise and turned around and booked for 2004 September cruise.

 

My DH says there's got to be more than what I'm telling him about this board.

 

I look as well before work and as soon as I get home from work I pop something on for supper and here I come.

 

DH calls it my "boyfriend" HA!!! Then I here reading or posting for hours. It's my down time and stress relief + all the good things I learn and friends I'd made.

 

And last but not least, I'll confess I do as well that a peek a work now and again.

I do understand what you are saying. But, you don't know me and how I work. I work so fast and efficient, that my boss always asks me to assist others whose work load (and their work ethic) is lacking. So, most days, I do the work of two people. I never let the internet affect that quantity or quality of my work. That's why my boss leaves it alone if he does see me on the internet. He knows I am a dedicated employee that he can always rely on.

I'm addicted too, and I have burned my share of dinners. I tend to stay up too late and have a hard time getting up in the morning. Whenever I book a new cruise I just can't stay off these boards. It helps me pass the time until it is time to board the ship. I learn something new all the time. Many times I get a good laugh, the people here are great.

Absolutly, I read the boards before getting ready for work at 5:30 am. It's addicting but, it reminds me to put a smile on my face that soon my ship WILL come in.

Oh, I am so glad that I am not the only one with this addiction. I know that I stay up way too late at night on these boards. Sometimes, DH will get after me. Then my boss made the mistake of giving me internet access at work. I didn't even ask for it. I try to just read the email notifications but sometimes I just can't resist and have to peek in at the boards also to see if anything new has come up!

I think it definitely helps to pass the time before the next cruise comes along and you never know what you might learn or who you might meet!

I finally did learn my lesson about reading the posts at home before leaving at work. I was late too many days. Luckily, I never got in trouble at work and now just wait until I get a break at the office to check in.

Hi Fondy and everyone that is "addicted" to these boards. I just stopped by about a month or so ago to get cruise hints/ideas. They should put a warning label when you start looking or signing up saying these are highly addictive!!! Fondy, I really must get some housework done etc. too. I only work part-time. I really need to cut back on the time I spend here!!!!-maybe I will set a time limit:1/2 hr.morning and evening! Take care everyone.Bye for now.
