Epic September re-furb

I read either here or on the other sight that since we couldn’t book the Epic for the month of September and because it’s homeport in October was Marseille that it was most likely because it was being updated. NOPE- it is because it is being used in conjunction with the Rugby finals by a travel company…. we were looking forward to the updates in October-darn it! Stomp 🦶!

Epic was launched in 2010, therefore she went into dry dock in 2015 and 2020 and she isn’t due for another until 2025.

Unfortunately the refurb in 2020 didn’t happen due to Covid so it’s long overdue. All they did was upgrade the haven areas.

They really need to fix the bathroom design on that ship. Who thought that was a good idea?

We LOVE that bathroom design- never understood why people don’t like it. Back on Epic next year and can’t wait!

That bathroom design is fine. We have sailed on the Epic 7 times and have no issue with it. 

 

We have stayed in a bunch of [expensive] boutique hotels in the largest US cities with very similar bathroom designs.

That would be a good gig. Full ship charter. Minimal fuel expenditure. 

 

The Getaway was the Bud Lite hotel for the Super Bowl in New York,,, delaying her maiden voyage. And was a hotel for athlete housing during the Olympics in Brazil. So,,, NCL is not shy about signing those types of deals. 

 

During the 2015 Epic dry dock, they tore most of the public areas down to the deck plates and rebuilt them. They also cut big holes in the hull to swap out engines. We were on the first cruise after that dry dock from Southampton to Barcelona.
