It starts in Barcelona, but the first stop is Alicante, which is right near my house. Will they let me get on there instead?

If you mean get off at a different port than where you embark, the answer is No.

They will only allow if there is a medical or family emergency and even then they have to get permission from the customs agent at that port or they risk a hefty fine.
