I think the main thing is you've read that and come prepared.

Last summer I did two 'strenuous' tours, the Acropolis in Athens which I had done before so knew I'd be fine - apparently some people came having not read the description and refused to do the climb (they also walked off from the tour without telling the guide where they were going when they were supposed to wait at the bottom for us, can imagine how that went).

The other was in Rhodes towards the end, it was a long day and the climb to the acropolis in the heat was a little much. Made it up ok because of my shoes and water but coming down was slippery with the stones.

We walk almost every day..flat surfaces or gym. I thought the Acropolis tour was a work out,, strenuous,,..  walking up steps, etc.  The outdoor rinky dink elev was  not for me either..   Rhodes was no issues.

Our Dtr found a mountain walk in St lucia (?)  A bit of a challenge in the heat

I thought Pools and Falls in Dominica ( ?)was also a  big hike,,  Up and  down 2x..limited railings or rest benches in some spots

Need sturdy shoes, hat, water for many walking tours,  you have to judge your stamina, potential surfaces,  and  your own  ability & balance! A walking pole might help depending

Some of the on ship tours also invokve alot of walking and stairs.,but have some elev options.

We have done a few rain forest and other walking tours.   The issue we found was we spent most of the time looking at the ground watching our footing  and not seeing much of the forest except for the path

On one cruise a couple was walking thru town on one of the Caribbean island.    She wasn’t watching her step and her foot got stuck under a bent pipe sticking out of the ground on a poorly maintained sidewalk.   She feel fell forward, broke her ankle, broke her nose, and broke her arm.   She was SOL.

Besides being strenuous it can be hazardous.

Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
