Rotterdam Locks?

Our July cruise has changed departure and arrival ports from Amsterdam to Rotterdam.  We were looking forward to going through the locks out of Amsterdam.  Are there any locks we would be going though leaving out of Rotterdam?

No, you won’t be going thru any locks. You will however be able to see the Maeslantkering. This huge storm surge barrier is part of the Delta Works.

Rotterdam is an interesting re-built city.  The architecture is amazing and there is much to see and do *visit the old Rotterdam VI (take a water taxi there!)

*go to Kinderdjink windmills

*take the HOHO bus tour

The cruise in and out is very interesting.  Even though there are no locks, there is plenty to see.

There are no locks but you will sail 2-3 hours through the Nieuwe Waterweg which is very interesting. Many things to see. The pier is almost in the center of Rotterdam so you will watch the city when departing and then there is Delfshaven, Schiedam and Vlaardingen. The port of Rotterdam is one of the largest of the world so there is a lot of activity goin on
