Specifically , Balcony and Club Balcony Suite on the Encore.

We are planning our first NCL cruise and wonder what the extra $ gets. Floor plan maps look almost identical.

Thanks

In short the club balconies will be in better areas on the ship and will have larger bathrooms and showers. You are also granted a bottle of champagne on embarkation day and one free bag of laundry, at least that's how it was when I was last in a club suite in April of 2022. Things with NCL can change a lot and quickly.

You also get some snacks brought to the room 1-2 times during your trip, depending on the length of the cruise. My folks were in a club balcony suite in September and had chocolate covered strawberries one day, and cookies another on a 10 day cruise.

Slightly bigger and nicer bathroom, better ship location, free bag of laundry, and some bonus snacks. Otherwise there's not much difference.

Champagne or sparkling wine?  NCL has cheapened out Champagne for certain rooms for a long time.

Isn't Champagne only sparkling white wine that comes from the "Champagne" region in France... so technically "Champagne" on NCL ship is only sparkling wine because it doesn't come from Champagne, it comes from Chardonnay:
