Minibar charges

Just returned from an 11-night sail on Connie (yesterday).  Asked the cabin attendant to remove the minibar items.  He said "don't worry about it".  I checked our account daily on the app.  It was always correct and when we left the ship, it was correct.  We only had 2 charges since we had a drink package and prepaid excursions.  When we returned home the final invoice had minibar charges added. I emailed Celebrity and will notify AMEX if Celebrity does not respond.

If someone could please post a picture of the card with minibar prices, that might help some of us defend our minibar case.  It was in the drawer above the refrig.  Who knows, maybe everyone should take a picture of it in case the same thing happens to you.

BTW--Connie had a big Noro/Covid breakout during the last half of our voyage.  They went strictly to crew serving everything, including the knife, fork, and napkin bundles.  It was never announced on what the numbers were.  We didn't catch anything, but we always steer clear of the crowds and use our balcony for outside time (no Edge class ships for us).  We had to fill out notices as we left, answering questions about if anyone in our cabin felt sick.  Reading follow-on Connie reports, they had to have a Hazmat team deep clean the ship and have a CDC health inspection.  Boarding was delayed many hours and travelers had a "not so nice" first day experience.

The good news, we finally made Elite Plus on this cruise.  😎

Why do you say "(no Edge class ships for us)"?  We are on our first Edge ship soon.

When I leave the ship my account is always at zero the night before debarkation and again  the next morning. If I ever see a small minibar charge my bank in Canada 🇨🇦 would reverse it.  They said anything lower than $15 is not worth disputing. So that ends up being a win for Celebrity.

It hasn't occurred in many years but we had erroneous charges  3-4 times over the past 20 years.   Each time they reversed them when I called in.   We got in the habit of taking a picture of the contents of the refrigerator on arriving in our room and on departure morning.

Once many years ago when I tapped my card to leave the ship it buzzed I was told I hadn't paid my final bill.  Went to GR and they had not cleared my account from previous night. That was 15 years ago.

We want to be at sea on a real cruise ship, with a real balcony, wind in our hair, the smell of the sea, etc. We don't want to be on a giant inward looking resort ship with minimal outdoor areas for the common (non suite) folk.  We don't gamble, go to shows, or use the pools.  Major time is spent on our real balcony.  Just recently we were on the Constellation and docked next to the Edge.  It looked like a prison.

Its hardly a prison but agree about the IV cabins. I also like outdoor space and those cabins wouldn't work for me. Never had one but have been in one.  I  just book insides very close to stairs literally all my time is spent outside so cabin is for sleeping only.

1. does anybody actually WANT the stuff in the mini-fridge - at the prices they charge?

2. we're going on Silhouette next month. Can I request an empty fridge for the whole trip, in advance?

We just got off Silhouette last week.  Like someone else said, you can't ask for in advance but our steward had no issue removing when we saw him on the first day.  He put everything in a bag under the bed.

I hope so....can others confirm this?

The mini bar was empty in my CC cabin on EQ the end of Jan. 2023.  I assumed the company that ran it went out of business during covid so I didn't ask about it.   (I've often wondered how old that stuff in the mini bar was, in the past, when it was stocked.)

Have looked at the soft drink cans.  They have always been before the use by date.

With the liquor doesn't really matter.  Steward on last cruise shared the list to replenish the mini bars for his 18 cabins.  Was very long and a bit of everything.

Never heard a cruise ship referred to as a prison. First time for everything.
