Chances of getting MTD?

We have 2 cruises coming up that we only booked this week. For both, MTD was booked up so we had to take the late seating (early was booked up in one but available on the other, but just too early to eat for us). Has anyone had success in getting this changed either before the sailing or upon embarking to MTD?

See the Maitre D' as soon as you board.  They will work it out for you.
