Rare drron29 Posted May 13, 2023 Author #913 Share Posted May 13, 2023 The problem coming back to Italy has been there are many large school groups on tour. They are all very loud and seem to be totally unorganised. They hardly ever move out of people's way and are a real pain. More of the fishing huts.
Rare drron29 Posted May 13, 2023 Author #914 Share Posted May 13, 2023 Back on the ship and another Kaiseki lunch. Then dinner in Atlantide. Rojaan had her favourites. Cheese and mushroom turnover and the lobster tail so no photos. I had the beef tartare, crab and beer bisque and the prime rib.

Have you yet to cook the steak on a hot stone?

Have not been, yet, to Ravenna, but this all looks spectacular and very interesting. Keep up the great sharing. Since I have had all of these "religious experiences" through these pictures, do I still need to attend church tomorrow morning? Am I holy enough already? THANKS! Enjoy! Rare drron29 Posted May 13, 2023 Author #918 Share Posted May 13, 2023 Tuesday and it must be Trieste. Sailing Yacht A. Some consider it the largest sailing yacht in the world but some won't accept that as it is motor assisted. Then the MSC Splendida backs in beside us. Then off on my tour - an introduction to Trieste.

Rare drron29 Posted May 13, 2023 Author #920 Share Posted May 13, 2023 First stop is the Miramare castle. Built for Archduke Ferdinand Maximiillian and his wife Charlotte. Built from 1846 to1860 but not furnished before the Archduke left for Mexico where for a time was Emperor and executed there in 1867. He never got to live in it. After his death various Hapsburgs holidayed there including the Archduke Franz Ferdinand moving in in March 1914. Not long after he was assassinated in Sarajevo which sparked WW1 Fortunately in WW2 the Germans in Trieste decided not to use it as their HQ so sparing it from Allied bombing. It was used successively by NZ, British and American forces as HQ until 1954. Then developed into the park today with free admission. Hence crowded.
