We will soon take our 6th cruise, this one in the Baltics and Scandinavia. This will be our first cruise with Travel Insurance coverage. Please give me some suggestions as to which company you use for this type of insurance. TIA

The consensus is to use a broker, and explore the options that are available.

It costs no more to use a broker than to purchase the coverage directly.

The folks from the 'Trip Insurance Store' participate on these forums, and occasionally have a dedicated Q&A subsection. The recent subsection with 'insure my trip' was disappointing, with limited useful content.

Yes, for TIS.  They are incredibly helpful (and patient with newbie questions!).

But CALL them; don't rely upon the online policy summaries.  There is just too much to include, and you might not realize that some "other" term is what would apply to you.

Also, when you talk with them, they can ask you questions, too, to help them figure out the best policy choices for you.

Also, IF needed, they'll help with claims.

After learning about TIS here on CC almost 10 years ago, we've used them for quite a few policies, from Travel Insured.  We've had several claims, alas, but at least TI pays their claims without nonsense.  But note:  You *must* have receipts, and make sure the the policy you purchase includes the "events" that *you* are concerned about.

You'll also probably get the best choice of policies if you start the coverage with the first payment (within 10-20 days, state dependent), and then you can up the coverage as you make more payments.
