@scubacruiserx2...thank you...we can do a cab to Dukes.

Thanks for the LOL moment mentioning the doors off helicopter ride.  My SO will not fly in a commercial airplane so a helicopter is definitely not on the schedule.

How would your SO care about a doors off canoe ride on a small wave ? They had 45 minutes rental that came with a couple of pros paddling and steering the canoe for $ 69 p.p.

Duke Kahanamoku, popularized the sport of surfing. Originally the "Sport of Kings" in Hawaii, only royalty surfed. He was also a 3 time Olympic swimmer.

Sailing out of Nawiliwili Harbor in Kauai requires a Tug boat to help past the lighthouse and surfers in the foreground

  • 4 months later...

The time had come to leave the port of Kauai so one last walk on the beach .

Hawaiian Air had cancelled our second flight so we scrambled to find a new one . We called them and the nice lady on the phone changed us to United . It didn't stop in Honolulu , but was a non stop flight to SFO for the same price !

This is why these trees have been banned in Florida . With a shallow root structure they fall over during hurricanes .

Early the next morning our guide , Erik , picked us up for a trek to Yosemite . We stopped at an orchard ( Cherry , Almond ? ) , does anybody know what these are ?

Erik told us that was the main reservoir for drinking water in San Francisco

We flatlander Floridians would be hiking for miles at altitude to see the Mariposa Sequoias , some of the largest trees in the world as tall as 300' .

No one told us that we would be walking for 3 miles in snowshoes !
