Connected rooms - noise?

We were on sister ship  Le Laperouse in 509, which is an adjoining cabin.  We didn't have any noise issues, but the door was located on the wall near the balcony and as a result we didn't have the couch that deck 4 cabins have.  Instead we had a small chair.  OK to tie your shoes, but not good for lounging.  On our next Ponant cruise (next week!) we deliberately booked on deck 4 to get the couch (and, secondarily, to avoid the door).
