stinky634 Posted April 14, 2023 #1 Share Posted April 14, 2023 We had our first NCL cruise in March (19-26) and it was comped through the Casinos at Sea from a land based casino here in CA. My question is, how long do they take to start sending NCL casino offers, and what sorts of offers are they? I’m assuming it’s mainly rooms, but curious how it differs from land based casino offers. negn Posted April 14, 2023 #2 Share Posted April 14, 2023 We recently got an offer and decided to look into Bermuda for a quick getaway. Our free cruise was $1400. They charge gratuity on the drink package and specialty restaurant. Plus an administrative fee and port taxes. Still less than booking regular fare but hardly free. They used to be more generous. Same here, it saved around $2k though for our trip so it was welcomed either way. All the nickel and diming on NCL was annoying though!
coolrider71 Posted April 14, 2023 #4 Share Posted April 14, 2023 I have booked through CAS before and have received the drink cards in the room on day 1. We always turn down the drink package because typically I usually get a couple of drinks the first couple of nights then I'm done. We just booked through CAS for next February and the agent said we will not receive the casino drink cards. Do you always get drink cards for the casino when booking through CAS? mistertomatoe Posted April 14, 2023 #5 Share Posted April 14, 2023 Seems to me it works the same as land base casinos. It's based on play. Most of the elements of the offers are there room, food, freeplay, drinks at the casino. Has anyone gotten onboard credit? Or a comp from the host during the cruise to cover onboard cost? Wine bottle, specialty dining, shopping, excursions, Internet, open bar ship wide? Carnival gives you limo service to the airport or cruise port depending on play. Free airfare? I hope this is not something new. I've been on 7 cruises thru CAS (just got back from last one last Saturday), and I've always received the drink card. My most recent cruise was the first that I've taken the drink package since I wanted to upgrade it for higher end drinks. Previously, I always declined the FAS drink package and just went with the casino drink card
Rare vadersprincess12 Posted April 15, 2023 #7 Share Posted April 15, 2023 We get our Casinos at Sea offers directly from our land based casinos. But beware as others have posted ~ there is a $20 per person, per day administrative fee on all CAS offers. We also get offers from Carnival and have never paid that additional fee. I hate that NCL advertises "free at sea" because it's never truly free. I will say though, that even with the fee, it's still quite a bit less than booking directly with NCL and for us usually at least half the cost. Coastalbreezes Posted April 15, 2023 #8 Share Posted April 15, 2023 As far as actually receiving casino offers directly from NCL, it's pretty random. Some people get offers via email for tournaments and other events while others do not. Other than activating offers from your land-based casino your best bet is to call Casinos at Sea directly to see what type of comp they can give you. https://www.ncl.com/why-cruise-norwegian/casino-cruise
