Spirit since refurbishment

Has anyone been on the Spirit since refurbishment? I was watching a video made by a travel agent taking a tour of the refurbished ship. When he got to the casino he pointed upwards( maybe) and mentioned a smoking section. I was wondering if the redoing of the casino included a separate sort of closed off section for the smokers. I will be elated if so, but cannot seem to find out any other information.

We were on the Spirit post drydock major refurbishment in Feb 2020. You can see the photos I took on board the new Miss Spirit: the link to the thread is in my signature.

Enjoy!

Have you cruised on the Spirit before?

The thread that I created was directed to the people who had sailed on Spirit previously and were dying to see what the $100m refit did to the ship. We were the first pax on the new Miss Spirit.

We loved that ship - perfect size! We will be going on her next month for the two B2B Alaska cruises. Can't wait to set our feet on Miss Spirit once again!

Your photos are wonderful! the ship looks beautiful.  Can't wait to sail on her again next year; Australia-Bali & Bali-Singapore B2B.

We are just off a 16 night South Pacific cruise on the Spirit...wonderful refurbishment...ship looks fantastic...we are on the Spirit before refurbishment as well.

Yes, I believe the casino was no smoking with a separate smoking area. We don't go to the casino but you had to walk through it to get to the Social Club and I didn't notice any smoke.

They were great. The ships cast did Elements, Blazing Boots and World Beat, all top notch. There were 3 different singers, a magician, an illusionist and an airialist. All very good. The comedian missed the ship so we had no one in the comedy club for the whole cruise. Three nights they showed movies in the theatre.

Thanks for your pictures. Ship looks beautiful!  Just booked Alaska. I see there’s Starbucks self serve machines in buffet but did you notice anywhere else where Starbucks is sold?  The lines at Starbucks on the Prima and Bliss were pretty crazy and I’m hoping this smaller ship will have easier access to my morning Starbucks fix.

The Starbucks self serve machines are on the pool deck, starboard side outside the Garden Cafe, and there is Starbucks bar in the Atrium.

The Prima, Bliss and Encore have Starbucks SHOP, and there are far more people on those 3 ships, so no surprise about the lines!

You chose wisely the best ship (Spirit) for your Alaska cruise - we chose Spirit hands down because we love the aft section of the ship - Garden Cafe, Terrace Bar, Terraces, Spice H2O, padded loungers, tables and chairs, etc. Great viewing area for Alaska! From deck 10 up to 13.

We are booked in an oceanview cabin, and will not bid for upgrade .... for this reason!

Thanks again.  I’m really looking forward to trying this ship.  The vibe of the ship looks like a cross between the Haven and the Prima for adults. I don’t know why it’s not been on my radar to try before.

I wanted to try an inside stateroom on a smaller ship like this one to test waters for future bookings to save $/cruise more but husband wasn’t ready to do that so we’re in a balcony. Got the last balcony aft on deck 10 after reading about it in various posts and KeithJenner’s previous positive comments. I’m pretty sure we’re not going to bid for upgrade either.

When’s your cruise?

Ours is May 31 and June 7 (back to back from Seward to Vancouver and then back to Seward).

Another bonus with Spirit - longer port hours than the mega ships!

May 17th.  I usually get a spa pass but $199 pp for use of loungers and no hot tub seems pretty steep so I’m passing on those. Will check it out onboard though in case it’s an area that warrants the extra $ or the price is listed wrong in my ncl.

 Jack and Cathy here

We'll see you there

We are doing a land cruise and ending on the sea portion.

I noticed you were in room 11038.  Was it loud from the gym above?  I'm in room 11010 later this year and worried it will be loud.

If anyone is interested in more Spirit info, youtube travel vloggers Ben and David are on the ship now for the Hawaii to Alaska route. They usually start posting their ship reviews a week or so after their trip. We love their channel as they tend to pay great focus on the food and ship areas, including public and specific rooms.
They give funny and honest reviews, are super personable and we look forward to these upcoming episodes. In 2025 June we are doing the return trip (Alaska to Hawaii) to celebrate our 20th anniversary and the Spirit looks just so lovely.

Warmest, Amy

Any idea why Onda isn't accepting reservations for a July sailing?  Could it already be completely booked up?

It says “Not available to book” ever since the 125 days mark. I’ll check back at 21 days when we’ve checked in. Or when we board.

When I had an issue booking a Specialty restaurant I used the chat feature and was booked within minutes. Try it.
