RC APP - CHATTING/TEXTING

Hi all!!

 

I have concerns after I saw a recent post about the Royal Caribbean app being hacked and shut down. Is this the only means of communicating with others in your party while onboard the ship IF YOU DON'T PURCHASE THE WIFI PACKAGE? I'd like us as a family to "disconnect" and take a break from social media so I really don't want the WIFI but if I can't text my family onboard that's a problem! I read on RC site that once you get on the ship you download the RC app by using their "GUEST WIFI"  Can't I use the GUEST WIFI for the whole cruise??!

Yes.  But there are reports that it's currently not working.

The assumption is it needs to be retooled. So may be out if commission for awhile. That can be a day or six months. Don't plan on it being available.

Meaning don't plan on the app being available? So basically I'll just have to suck it up and get WIFI for everyone so we can text!

Well, wait for now and see. The problems this past week may bring changes for the better by September.

We used to leave messages on stateroom phones or bring a little magnetic white board for each door you can leave messages on those as to where you will be.  Just means more walking but thats not a bad thing on a cruise.

Download the app before you board. The app is still useful for other things. It just may be the chat feature may not be available. The chat feature is iffy when it does work, so find another way to keep in touch, if it’s important. You don’t need Wi-Fi, you just need to be creative.
