Jt4428 Posted April 27, 2023 #1 Share Posted April 27, 2023 Can someone answer whether they have gambling on the ships when you travel in Hawaii? TIA
Rare BermudaBound2014 Posted April 27, 2023 #2 Share Posted April 27, 2023 The Pride of America does not have a casino ;-). I believe the current law is that ships with a casino will be allowed to open once they have sailed 12 nautical miles from land. I know the Konningsdam is currently in Hawaii. Maybe post on that role call (or another roll call recently in Hawaii) to see if the ship is sailing far enough away from land to open the casino at night? I suspect the answer to this question is, 'it depends'. Sorry I couldn't be more definitive help. Hopefully someone else with recent cruise experience in Hawaii will chime in. TIA Your first clue should be that NCLs Pride of America doesn't even have a casino. I checked my Princess Patters from my last Hawaii cruise and the casino was closed from the day we arrived in Hawaii until the day we left our last port and were well at sea, 2 hours after leaving our last port. Same for us and we just got back to LA from Hawaii today.
CRUZBUDS Posted May 3, 2023 #5 Share Posted May 3, 2023 We were on the Koningsdam in February, as our other Hawaii cruises I believe the casino was closed the entire time we were in Hawaii. We're on the Carnival Miracle in Alaska now - the casino is open soon after we left each port.

Alaska has a much longer history with gambling and loose women than Hawaii does...

I take exception to that! The Hawaiian women were every bit as "friendly" as the ladies of Alaska. The difference is Hawaii had a lot more people willing to travel there to be missionaries starting in 1820. There was little interest in Alaska until the Yukon Gold Strike in 1896. Mike45LC Posted June 19, 2023 #8 Share Posted June 19, 2023 In May 2023, the Emerald Princess casino was closed the entire time in Hawaii. That included the evenings and nights between ports.
