Yehootu Posted April 28, 2023 #1 Share Posted April 28, 2023 Looking for recommendations on a mid level hotel for a few nights pre cruise at the end of March next year. Did a quick look and saw a hotel with airport pick up in the CBD. If no transportation, what is the best way to get down to the CBD, or to The Rocks. What area is best for a short stay? Mahalo When we fly to Sydney, either for a cruise or a holiday, we usually use a taxi to travel to our hotel/apartment. In saying that, we usually take the train from Circular Quay to the airport after a cruise. Anywhere in the CBD or Rocks is fine to stay for any length of time. I would suggest if staying for a few nights an apartment is ideal. You will usually have cooking and laundry facilities in the apartment which can make it very convenient. The prices of an apartment and hotel are much the same. We usually use Meriton apartments when staying in Sydney. They are in a mumber of areas of the CBD. Most of the CBD is close to public transport - train, bus or tram.
Yehootu Posted April 29, 2023 Author #3 Share Posted April 29, 2023 Mahalo, we've booked The Grace Hotel. We will be arriving on a Thursday for a 3 night stay prior to our cruise. I'll take a look at Meriton apartments.
Rare gdlamberth Posted May 13, 2023 #4 Share Posted May 13, 2023 The Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel seems to be in a good location and rooms are between $140-$160USD which seems attractive. No one here has mentioned it. Is it a place we should avoid? Any insights would be greatly appreciated! Greg
yarramar Posted May 14, 2023 #5 Share Posted May 14, 2023 The Lord Nelson is a very popular watering hole which means that it may be quite noisy if you need your sleep. Apart from that, as you mentioned, it is in a great location and the prices are very attractive
