Seattle Uber From Downtown Hotel to Pier 91 & Back Downtown After

I’m a little confused about some of the other posts that I’ve read. If we take an Uber from our hotel in downtown Seattle will it drop us off right at Pier 91 or are we going to have to walk a distance. And then on the way back where would we catch an Uber back downtown again & would we have to walk far to catch one? Thanks so much!!!

After you disembark the ship and plan to use Uber to leave Pier 91, you will either walk 10 minutes to the Ride Share lot, or you can take a 14 passengers shuttle van.  The walk is easy, and often times there is a queue of passengers waiting, so walking can be faster.  Ubers absolutely do not pick up in the drive area.

 

As for dropping off passengers for embarkation - most drivers will drop you off along the drive area, but other Uber drivers could be directed to the Ride Share lot.  There is a traffic control person who waves drivers one way or another (this person is directing all incoming traffic, just not cruise passengers).  The location where Uber driver is directed might also be related to the time of day you are arriving (mid morning is crazy busy).  Generally by 1:30 it's quiet (unless there was a hiccup earlier)

Is the info you shared apply to taxi drivers too?

No.  Taxis are allowed along the driveway area at all times.

How about other car services that are not Uber or Lyft such as black lane

If my memory is correct from a year ago...taxis are priced very similar to ride share in this market.  Took Uber INTO the port ( and got lucky wheny the driver was "allowed" into the main drive but a taxi back so we did not have to make the walk with a bunch of luggage.

Sorry for the delayed response - ! was on a 9 day cruise.

 

The Town Cars (not Ubers) are allowed to use the left side of the driveway at Pier 91, as well as private cars (like a local relative/friend picking you up also uses the left side of the U shape driveway).  Sometimes it gets so congested that that line of private cars & Town Cars gets backed up because the drivers don't want to use their spot while waiting for their passenger pick-up to arrive).  the traffic staff does make them move, but it can be frustrating.

(Think about the drop off area in front of an airports departure drives/lanes, it's similar to what happens during the height of disembarkation).

 

There are lettered zones that you reference to help your driver find you.
