KAM69 Posted May 1, 2023 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2023 I am exploring the idea of a World Cruise starting December 2023 and see Viking has 2 ships: Viking Sky and the Viking Neptune that will set sail only days apart. Realize the Neptune is a 2022 ship and the Sky is a 2016 ship. Are there any obvious differences as the Sky has a very attractive pricing verse the Neptune. Why is the pricing different : Does the Sky require a refurbishment ? Any recommendations as to which Ship to select ? Any comments on the positive and negative in taking a world Cruise? . deec Posted May 1, 2023 #2 Share Posted May 1, 2023 (edited) Are the number of days the same? If there is a big difference in price I would probably choose the SKY. The only thing that I would miss if you are booking a V/DV category are the drawers in the the closet but perhaps the SKY has been retrofitted with those..any one recently on the SKY? I do not like the planetariums on the Orion and Jupiter( I like the extra room on the second floor of the Explorer's Lounge but would not hesitate to book either ship is the itinerary was what I wanted. We were just on the Sky, in a DV. There were 3 drawers in the closet. It was our first Viking and we thought the ship was beautiful. Didn't notice her needing a face lift.
