  1. We also used Barcelona Day Tours, we had a small group of 12 and it was excellent. I also agree that Park Guell is a must see, it is amazing and difficult to get in without being in a group. The day tour will also drive you around the city, so no need to go with the included excursion, just enjoy the city.
  2. It really depends on how much alcohol you consume. They offer free beer and a white or red wine with lunch and dinner. I seem to remember their drinks are reasonably priced, but we had the Silver Spirits package. If you each drink more than 2 every day, the package is worth it. If you average only 2, then probably not.
  3. We did Ostia on Easter Sunday, through Viking. It was so quiet that day, no crowds to worry about.
  4. We decided on Ostia, since we were there on Easter, decided that would be way to crazy. Our guide was the one that is on Viking TV. He was great and very knowledgeable. One of our favorite excursions
  5. We were on the Sky in April and discovered they had Buffalo Trace in Torshaven. Needless to say, we stopped there before heading to Explorer's Lounge.
  6. We never had an issue getting into the Chef's Table o. SKY. We did have more difficulty getting into Manfredies. We had made friends with the hostess in WC, and she told us she made all reservations, so if we couldn't get on somewhere all we had to do was let her know and she could make it happen.
  7. On our last Ocean, we had to leave original embarkation port 10 hours early. There were appx 100 pax that didn't make it onboard. If they had viking air, Viking got them to the next port. If they traveled on their own, the had to find transportation to the ship. We arrived 2 days early, on our own air, so we didn't worry, but was worth noting for future trsvel.
  8. Clay, we were on the Sky in the spring. Very near the elevator, but never heard any noise. I am also thinking of booking this same WC, if I can just convince DH. He thinks he has appeased me by booking a Nov River cruise, lol.
  9. I am usually prone to motion sickness, but on our recent Viking, I was fine while my husband had one day of not feeling well. We were midship, deck 5, but the seas were really rocky. We had friends on the top deck, forward. They were really seasick. There were green apples in baskets and some sort of medication for the asking. One didn't have to go to the medical office to get it. I found Viking very accommodating trying to help alleviate everyone's suffering.
  10. Hope you enjoy as much as we did. Are you doing your pre and post cruise through Viking?
  11. When we were considering booking our first Viking Ocean, I went directly to their website, since we were joining another couple that had already booked. After looking at the prices, I decided to see if there were any deals out there. I was fortunate to discover one of the big box stores booked Viking. We were able to get up to a DV1 for V2 price (settled on a DV2 for location) Also got SBC and silver spirits package at no additional charge. It was probably part of a promo that Viking was doing, and part TA, but were very happy we booked with him. He called a few times to make sure we had everything we needed, and called the week after we returned. I will use him for all my travel needs in the future, after doing it all myself, all these years. Will probably still book my own hotels in the future.
  12. We were just on the Sky, in a DV. There were 3 drawers in the closet. It was our first Viking and we thought the ship was beautiful. Didn't notice her needing a face lift.
  13. They will know you have the SS package when you are seated and replace the stemless wine glasses with those with stems. That's how they keep everyone with the correct wines. We so enjoyed this experience and found the staff at CT some of the best on the ship.
  14. These aren eally great pictures. We didn't get this excursion, and missed out. A good reason to head back to Barcelona on a future cruise. Truly an amazing city.
  15. I had a deep tissue massage, and it was really relaxing. I was worried it might be too deep, but really wasn't. Right before my massage, a passenger had just had the nordic facial and she loved it.
  16. On Sky, our travel partners had booked CT for the 1st night. We couldn't figure out how to be added, so went down when we boarded an were able to add our name to their reservation. After that, the young lady that helped me, always remembered us. I told her toward the end of the cruise, we tried to do the same at Manfredi, but they told us they were fully booked, so we ate in the Restaurant instead. She said I should have asked her, she would have gotten us in. Lesson learned, make friends with the hostess.
  17. We are pescatarians and and just asked our server to have the chef make a substitution for a course if it contained meat. The normal substitution is salmon. I believe that last night we ate at CT was Lotus, stir fried beef. We asked if the chef could substitute shrimp for the beef. Answer was no. They just do a seared salmon as sub, which was good, but nothing unusual or related to the rest of the menu.
  18. We just returned from Sky, and most port talks were 1630, unless they had a reason to change it. Always the day before our day in port. We normally watched it on tv, since it wasn't a convenient time for us and at that point, couldn't change excursions anyway.
  19. We were just on Sky and saw 8 tops in Manfredi. As for Chef's table, I would assume they would put smaller tables together, but you would need to make your reservations in advance. I would go to the specialty restaurant the day you board and make arrangements.
  20. We are currently on the Sky as well and 1st time Viking. We have to agree, the service has been excellent, pampered at every turn. They are trying very hard to please, so I don't complain about the food to them. When we are trying to decide what to order, we keep in mind that it won't be what we are expecting, no matter the explanation. Manfredie doesn't have the chocolate dessert we had heard so much about. Sometimes it's good, other times not. We ate at the Chef's table the first night, and will do so again this evening. The first night did not disappoint (Route to the Indies) and hope this evening is as good. I can't remember what the menu will be. World Cafe is only good when it is first out, otherwise it is dried out. My favorite is the assorted cheeses on the buffet. That and fruit can get me through lunch.
  21. We haven't tried to order any other wine yet, nor have we seen or been offered a wine list. This is the bottle we showed to the bartender, and they served it. We don't know if that would also work in the restaurant, but I can update if we order again. Red wine gives me terrible migraines, and of course, left my meds at home. I am going to try to find more at medical office so I can enjoy the wine offering .
  22. We are sitting here, upper deck of Explorers Lounge, watching Sky pull in. Too bad we have breakfast being delivered at 8 and will miss the best part.
  23. We are currently on Sky and had Chefs table last night. We really enjoyed the red they poured we have SS, so got the premium wines. We took a picture of the bottle and asked for a glass in the Explorer's Lounge later that evening.. We haven't been to the Restaurant yet, so don't know if it is one of their offerings
  24. Glad you arrived safely, sounds more exciting than our trip. We were in the same area last night, but rain started, so didn't really get to enjoy our stroll back to hotel. Leaving soon to visit Rialto Bridge area and market, then over to Burano
  25. Once you board the flight, all will be fine. It will be a great journey, no matter what happens from now until you arrive in Venice. We are in the Philly Airport, awaiting our 6:15 flight to Dublin, then onto Venice. Safe travels.
