TeddyR Posted May 4, 2023 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2023 We arrive at Napoli at 7 am. I wanted to purchase ferry tickets ahead of time. Does anyone have a good estimation of how long it will take a family of 4 to disembark (without any special privilege like using ship-sponsored excursion or special class)? Some time after 8AM, though unless the pre-purchase tickets are a lot cheaper, I'd wait to buy them when you need them on site.
bonsai3s Posted May 4, 2023 #3 Share Posted May 4, 2023 Are you going to the island of Capri? We typically DIY.. and in Naples we decided to take the ferry to the island of Capri. We were able to disembark (leisurely) at approximately 8:30 am. The ferry is a short 5-minute walk from the cruise terminal. When we got to the ticket booths, all of the early departure tickets were already sold out...guessing tickets were sold to those buying the ship's shore excursions. We were able to purchase a ticket for a 9:30am departure (€21.70) and 1:40pm return. (€19.20)...not quite sure of the price difference. It took approx. an hour to get to Capri. The ferry has a small bar/restaurant and restrooms...nice. It was a wonderful day with stunning views and redolent aroma coming from every restaurant. 2

Note: * Find out how many ships are in Naples the same day...cruisemapper.com...having 2 or more ships will certainly result in longer queues. * Will you be in Naples on a Saturday or Sunday? If so, many of the local Italians love to visit Capri. Hope this helps...happy sailing!
