Taxi in Istanbul?

Hi.  I apologize this has been covered extensively before.  Also, I apologize if I am posting in the wrong forum.  I have no idea if Istanbul questions should go in the “Asia” forum, or “Western Europe/British Isles,” or here.

 

We have never been to Istanbul, but our cruise in November is ending there.  A few questions:

 

1.  (I’m assuming the cruise is ending at the new Galataport.). Is it easy to catch a cab at Galataport for us to go to a hotel in Istanbul?

2.  Do cab driver only take cash?  Do they only take Turkish Lyras?

3.  What is the best place to get Turkish Lyras?

I've not been to Istanbul since the new port opened but reports indicate taxis are available. I would not count on them accepting a credit card.
