MMfan14 Posted May 6, 2023 #1 Share Posted May 6, 2023 So, I don't drink alcohol, but was on the Legend and had reservations for the steakhouse and our waitress ask for drinks and my wife ordered hers and I told her I would like a zero proof pirate punch and was told they couldn't make zero proof drinks. I found that a bit odd and didn't ask a million questions why and I left it at that. Has anyone else experience this that doesn't consume alcohol at the steakhouse? mz-s Posted May 6, 2023 #2 Share Posted May 6, 2023 (edited) Carnival is carrying Lyre's zero-proof spirits on their ships but I think they are only available at the Alchemy bar. Edited May 6, 2023 by mz-s
Rare EngIceDave Posted May 6, 2023 #3 Share Posted May 6, 2023 I was able to get a regular Coke at Luminosa's Is the punch a pre-packaged drink or an actual bartender mixed drink?
klfrodo Posted May 6, 2023 #4 Share Posted May 6, 2023 Could have been a mis-communications situation. English is my first language and if someone said to me "I would like a zero proof pirate punch", I would be confused as hell. I can only imagine what someone who's English is their second or third language might be thinking.

English is my first language and after living abroad for many years, I've learned that fluency in a language isn't the same as speaking it natively. Therefore, it's helpful to everyone involved to keep things as simple as possible.
evandbob Posted May 7, 2023 #6 Share Posted May 7, 2023 I've ordered and received non alcoholic beer in the Steakhouse, but I never asked for a non alcoholic or virgin mixed drink.
Schoifmom Posted May 8, 2023 #7 Share Posted May 8, 2023 It may have been because of your use of the term "zero-proof," which would indicate that you wanted the zero-proof alcohol. Had you requested a "virgin" drink, I think you may have had a different response.
TrqoisWtrs Posted May 8, 2023 #8 Share Posted May 8, 2023 Every bar can't make every drink; I know the steakhouse bar is a smaller bar so that limits what they carry. You can always get one and bring it in. :)
klfrodo Posted May 8, 2023 #9 Share Posted May 8, 2023 (edited) Is "zero proof" a regional term? Even Urban Dictionary doesn't recognize the term. I've heard of non-alcoholic, and virgin drinks. Never heard zero proof before this thread. Edited May 8, 2023 by klfrodo
