Duck hunt

So what is the deal with people hiding rubber duckies on ships. Supposedly this is being done by guests, saw on another board.  Hope this isn't a new CD activity, like trivia in bathrobes. I recognize they want a younger demographic but let's not create a mega ship game environment. Just my point of view.

I surely hope they don’t start playing that evil loud Rock and Roll music aboard ship. Can’t they just play Glen Miller and let us listen in peace to the string quartet? Why CCR and The Rolling Stones are just pornography to my delicate ears. Let those dastardly main line cruise ships play that junk!! 🙄

We had the rubber duckies appear on our recent Marina cruise, fwiw. 😂

Didn’t see any of the emojis put on the artwork. Totally unacceptable.

fwiw, on our two recent O cruises we found almost all of the expensive oil paintings gone. It has been mostly replaced with art palette color prints mostly behind glass. Still a few of the old remains, but not many. People were questioning whether it had to be sold, to raise cash, during the shutdown.

As has been posted many times, when you decide to return to cruising Oceania after these multiple years away, you’ll find many subtle changes.

The ducks have been around on cruise ships for a good 20 years...  We've encountered a few & now leave them hidden.

Earlier than that, there were "duck races" in some waterways in Europe, finally ended due to pollution concerns.

Before THAT (1992), a cargo ship lost thousands of ducks at sea that washed up all over the world. This started the craze/

A huge Dutch sculpture went on international tour. https://chrysler.org/exhibition/florentijn-hofmans-rubber-duck/

Now, find duck shops/displays in any European tourist area/airport boutique. Every imaginable theme.

We did pick up a commemorative one at the gift shop at North Cape (Norway), for the babies...

Never  seen them on Oceania

Hope  new cruisers  do not bring their  main stream mentality aboard  O
