Free Casino Offer and Upgrade Bid

The location of an winning upgrade bid has nothing to do with whether you're on a casino rate.  The algorithms to determine which bids accepted are accepted are designed to maximize the total incremental revenue from the domino effect of an upgrade to a more premium cabin.

For example, at a micro level, let's say you're in a balcony and bid the minimum to upgrade to a mini suite.  Someone else in an oceanview bid the maximum to upgrade to a balcony.  You could win your mini suite not because you placed a great bid but primarily because the other person's maximum bid for your balcony generates the most incremental revenue.

In reality this analysis happens on a much larger scale across the whole ship, contemplating all the tens or hundreds of thousands or millions of possible combinations of upgrade bids.  Since the goal is maximizing total incremental revenue, what you paid for your room in the first place (even if $0) is a moot point.

We never bid for upgrades on our casino freebies. We get a free balcony and at the same time pay the difference for a full suite. We only want to travel in suites why would we take the chance
