Beachlover1989 Posted May 15, 2023 #1 Share Posted May 15, 2023 We want to walk around Cobh on our own and are interested in lunch at an authentic Irish pub. Are there any recommendations for the best ones to look for? Thank you!
CruiserBruce Posted May 16, 2023 #2 Share Posted May 16, 2023 There is probably one on most every corner. There certainly is in many Irish towns.

I'm never quite sure what's meant by "authentic" in such circumstances. Maybe "traditional"? In which case, based on my two trips to the country, you may have to compromise about lunch, as many (if not most) traditional pubs are drinking establishments and, even if they do food, it may well be limited to sandwiches and the like. As CruiserBruce suggests, you'll probably find a pub on every corner. Be sure that, if you're ordering a stout, you order the locally brewed Murphy's, rather than the internationally better known Guiness. Lovely part of the world - we had a week in nearby Kinsale a few years back, using it as a base for touring the area
SueMo Posted May 16, 2023 #4 Share Posted May 16, 2023 We always love to spend a little time at Kelly's Bar for its beer, Irish coffee, and live music. However, I don't think they serve food.
