-The-True-North- Posted May 18, 2023 #1 Share Posted May 18, 2023 Hello, Is there anyway to check how close a particular cruise (Greek island glow) is to being sold out for a certain date? The room (oceanview) we wanted is now sold out, so only inside or balcony are left. But this cruise is twice as much as another we are considering. Thanks. _tacocat_ Posted May 18, 2023 #2 Share Posted May 18, 2023 there are some TA websites that list the actual live availabilities, but you have to create an account for free and log in to see. there are not many oceanview rooms, so that's not a great barometer of how full the ship is. Rare cantgetin Posted May 18, 2023 #3 Share Posted May 18, 2023 A TA who sells VV can go to their portal and see how many cabins in what types are still available, You can call and ask shoreside sailor services how full a cruise is, but you won't always get a reliable answer from them. The vast majority of the rooms on the VV ships are balconies of one sort or another, so a sell out of inside or oceanview (or suites) doesn't mean much. Just ask a TA, they can access the booking engine to see what the inventory looks like. Keep in mind that VV is unlike any other cruise line with the majority, 86% of their cabins are Sea Terraces. Sea View and Insiders are a premium on this ship because there are very few of them relatively. According to a VV Media Fact sheet there are 1330 cabins including 78 Rock Star Suites on each ship. 95 Sea View, 105 Insiders. That leaves about 1030 Sea Terraces. Those categories being sold out only means 200 cabins have been sold and not indicative of a ship being close to sell out. 🙂
-The-True-North- Posted May 18, 2023 Author #5 Share Posted May 18, 2023 Thanks all. I'll see if I can get a TA to give me the details for Greek island glow Aug 27 to Sept 3. Is it just because it's a new route that it would be so expensive then?

It is impossible to figure out the mind of the bean counters when they set prices. But yes, a new route, late in the season, new ship could all explain a higher starting point. It might be as simple as fuel costs in Europe as the 7 night Med sailings on Valiant are only slightly less. It is a great itinerary, and might just reflect the fact that they thought they could sell it at that rate.

It looks like that particular sailing only has sold out ocean views. Everything else is very available even most of the suites. It’s around 100 days out, if you are set on Ocean view, you could wait a bit and see if one becomes available that could happen anytime but most likely around the 90 day out mark. Hope that helps.
