NoelleC Posted May 24, 2023 #1 Share Posted May 24, 2023 I am trying to convince my brother in law to join our 14 day Panama Canal cruise out of SD in December, but he HAS to work the first 5 days making phone calls. He has Verizon. Does anyone have experience with this? The pay per minute option won’t work since he will be on the phone 8+ hours a day. My sister doesn’t want to go without him, so I am trying to find a solution. I was thinking he could just use my phone and I’ll get the unlimited AT&T cruise calling package? Anyone use that before? Thanks for your insight.

1025cruise Posted May 25, 2023 #3 Share Posted May 25, 2023 While on the ship you are at the mercy of the expensive cruise cell service. Not sure if DCL blocks wifi calling, but that might be an idea.
mz-s Posted May 25, 2023 #4 Share Posted May 25, 2023 It's called Cellular At Sea and it is obscenely expensive. Most of the time a carrier's international roaming packages do not include use on the ship. That is billed separately. It would probably be cheaper to eat the penalty and cancel his fare (and whoever else doesn't want to go because he can't) vs. pay roaming fees to be on the phone that much.
