tomnmkm Posted May 30, 2023 #1 Share Posted May 30, 2023 Just wanted to know about what time the first transportation leaves for Sydney airport post cruise. Looking at airfare to return to US. We will be on the Coral Princess.
Rare DHP1 Posted May 31, 2023 #2 Share Posted May 31, 2023 (edited) Why don’t you just take the train to the airport which is located at the end of the pier. It runs every 6 minutes and will be much cheaper. https://transportnsw.info Example - https://transportnsw.info/trip#/trip?from=200020&to=202030&leaving=true&excludedModes=11&onlyAccessible=false&walkSpeed=0&gettingFromMode=100&gettingToMode=100&onlyOpal=false&gettingToValue=20&gettingFromValue=20&tripPreference=0&travelMode=publicTransport Edited May 31, 2023 by DHP1
icat2000 Posted May 31, 2023 #3 Share Posted May 31, 2023 (edited) Depends on your flight time and the day to consider which transportation. Options are 1. Princess transfer - can be a lot of waiting around 2. Cab - can be quick if traffic is light 3. Train - but you have to haul all your luggage, buy your ticket. So factor that in. 4. Walk - allow a lot of time. But you get a hearty workout burns off all those calories consumed on ship 😄 Edited May 31, 2023 by icat2000
Tripmode33 Posted May 31, 2023 #4 Share Posted May 31, 2023 When we disembark in Sydney, we make it a rule to never book a domestic flight before 1pm. This is particularly important if coming into Sydney from New Zealand as have had a few delayed arrivals on that route. If coming from another Australian Port, a delay is less likely. I would be looking at afternoon flights for international - even 3pm onwards. Rather have a few hours to fill in at airport than the stress of worrying if you'll make check-in or needing to reschedule. Princess transfers are around $AUD25 and probably easier if bulky luggage. We normally take the train.

We normally take the train. Or do what we (family group of 4) did last month: spend an extra day and fly out the following morning. We arranged a private Blue Mountains tour for less than Princess' disembarkation excursion that picked us up at the dock at 8:30 am, had a complete day in the beautiful Blue Mountains, and then dropped us off at the Rydges Hotel at 5:30 pm directly across from the international terminal at the airport. At 6:30 am the next morning we walked across the street and checked in for our 9:30 am flight to Los Angeles (and then onward to Washington, DC). Logistically it was perfect and it was a wonderful way to end the 6 delightful weeks we spent in New Zealand and Australia.
