Can anyone tell me the dirty details of Drinks On Us! valid for your use only while playing in the casino.

I am new to drinks on us. I am guessing this means I can sit down and start playing on a machine and order a drink. I am assuming based on my experience with Carnival that I cannot walk up to the casino bar and just get a free drink. Are there any other limits to this I should know about? Is everyone in my cabin over 21 in on this deal or just me? I have not been able to find any fine print.

Your offer is only for you.  Yes, you have to be at a machine or table game to get a drink.  You cannot use it at the casino bar if your ship has a bar.  I tip a $ 1 per drink even if I order water.  After a while if the waiter sees me they will take my order even if I am standing around waiting to play.  I do spend a lot of time in the casino so I become known to the wait staff.

The offer is for you only.  Yes, you must be playing at slots or tables to get a drink.  In very rare cases, if there are no drink waiters working, the bartender may allow you to order from them.  Should someone over 21 in your cabin wants CHEERS, you will be required to also purchase CHEERS.  On some ships like Mardi Gras, the non casino bars are wonderful so adding on CHEERS is worthwhile.

It is certainly possible to order and receive a drink while sitting at a machine and then take it out of the casino to somewhere else, say dinner.

 

Sometimes the order takes 5 or 10 minutes to arrive, so allow enough time that you won't feel rushed. Tipping as usual, helps.

When I earn the drinks based on points played that cruise, it has only been for me; however, many of my casino offers include "Drinks on Us" for me and a companion while playing in the casino, so we both get the benefit.

 

I sometimes go to the casino early before dinner or a show just to get a drink and take it with me.  Or stop on my way after breakfast to get a Bloody Mary. The wait usually isn't very long unless the casino is especially busy.

That has not been my experience. In fact, just recently I sailed on a casino offer on Pride's transatlantic cruise and the drinks on us provision specifically stated that it was for me and a companion.

I'm not the one (or the ones) who made a declarative statement that a drinks on us offer would be for one person only; I simply stated what my experience had been.

Your offer may be different than others. Some DOU offers are for 1 only, while some include a companion, and it could be in Casino only, or Everywhere. I’ve gotten both types.

Exactly. If it is for others in the cabin it specifically states “for you and a companion”. 
If it does not say that it is for the person receiving the offer only. OP stated it didn’t say and the clip of the offer they posted confirms that. 
 

The people saying it is for the OP only is correct - in this situation. They aren’t saying that’s always the answer.

My experience is drinks at casino + guest.  If im sitting next to spouse they usually serve both, but i play more than a little bit.   Especially sea nights.

Can be very long waits for a drink as some waiters will go all around the casino taking orders before going to the bar to fill them. I’ve spent a lot more money waiting for my drink than 5he drink is worth. I do tip with every drink which some say they get quick service. Yes, they may come to you quickly but your drink may take awhile.
