Ajaccio transportation to beaches

We are looking at going to the beach while in Ajaccio. The cruise ship transfer is really expensive.  I looked at the ferries to Porticcio but the schedule is limited because it will be on a Sunday.  Are there other options? How expensive would a taxi be? Is there a bus?

Great picture (above).  When we were in Ajaccio, on a hot day, we simply walked from the tender pier through town (bought a nice lunch of moules et frites) and over to the town's beach.  We understand there are some nicer beaches a few miles from town (for this you would need to use local transport or an excursion).  I do not recall sunbed rentals (in town) so bring some towels from the ship.

Hi. The beach can be found by walking left as you leave the ship. Walk through the little restaurants in the front...a couple do good fish dishes. Follow it past the fort and you'll see it stretching away in front of you. Definitely bring beach towels.
