Southampton Pre-Cruise Hotel Recommendation

We always stay at the Moxy using Marriott points. It is a good location to get an evening meal, parking at the nearby mall is reasonable and they now give a free drink on arrival- will report back on Thursday! There are always loads of people waiting for their taxi to the cruise port in reception so I'm sure it is not a problem. I would say it is a little above premier inn and the like.

How was Moxy?  We'll be there in August, also using points

Great location, great staff, comfortable bed and good shower. The rooms are small with no draws or closets we left our big bags in the car and just took overnight bags inside We will be back there in September so would totally recommend for one night.

We atre stay at the Leonardo Royal pre-cruise. We are sailing from the Mayflower port. Is it walkable from Leonardo Royal to Mayflower port? Also are there places for a good dinner close to Leonardo Royal?
Thanks

It’s about 1.5 miles from hotel to terminal, so about a 30 minute walk. And not a particularly nice one through the docks. So a cab may be preferable.

There are plenty of places to eat within easy walking distance of your hotel but one that’s been recommended recently is https://dancingmanbrewery.co.uk which is a 5 minute walk away.

Extremely well-located for a dozen and more national & international brand restaurants  in the West Quay entertainment centre, or for something more individual the pubs and restaurants of old town and the waterfront, all within 10 minutes, most within 5. Or further to Oxford Street

Ditto the shops of West Quay Mall, and the main shopping street of Above Bar, which runs north from the city wall and its main gate The Bargate which features on the city's Coat of Arms. And within the city walls south of The Bargate is old-town Southampton with its few historic buildings (most of old town was flattened during the Blitz of 1940/41)  leading to the waterfront pubs & restaurants.

Mayflower cruise terminal not so convenient - a 25 minute walk, all on level ground & with sidewalks & pedestrian-friendly lights across the one major road, but not a lot of fun.

A cab would be better.

Both shanks's and cabs can choose either the main road & go into the docks at Gate 10, or go into Dock Gate 8 almost opposite your hotel& behind the Holiday Inn, and past ships at City & Horizons cruise terminals.

If your room is a few floors up on the side of the hotel which faces the docks, you should be able to figure both routes.

(Ignore Mr Google's zig-zagging near the cruise terminal, he's not familiar with the place.😏)
